Handmade Ivory Cotton Gauze Quilt - Blue Trim | Ultra-Breathable Custom Bedding | Crib to Cal King | Hot Sleeper & Summer Quilt

Handmade ivory cotton gauze quilt - ultra-breathable custom bedding with blue trim

This handmade quilt is crafted from cotton gauze - a loosely woven, double-layered cotton fabric that is exceptionally soft, lightweight, and breathable. Unlike standard cotton, gauze allows significantly more airflow, making it one of the most comfortable bedding options for hot sleepers, warm climates, and summer use. It is also well known for getting progressively softer and more supple with every wash, so this quilt genuinely improves over time.

The quilt is finished in ivory with blue cotton trim on all four sides - a clean, minimal colour combination that works effortlessly in Scandinavian, minimalist, coastal, and classic bedroom interiors. The reverse is ivory cotton, keeping the overall look soft and consistent on both sides. The quilting is done with care throughout, with a flawless finish and no loose ends.

One of the standout construction features of this quilt is the use of extra-wide cotton batting. This prevents the fill from shifting, bunching, or leaving empty spaces after washing - a common issue with lower-quality quilts and one that significantly affects how the quilt looks and feels over time. Every quilt is handmade to order, so each piece is made specifically for you.

Q. What is cotton gauze, and how is it different from regular cotton?
A. Cotton gauze is a lightweight, loosely woven cotton fabric known for its airy texture and excellent breathability. Compared with conventional woven cotton, its open weave allows greater airflow, helping the fabric feel light, soft, and comfortable against the skin. Its breathable construction makes cotton gauze especially well suited to warm climates, summer bedding, and those who tend to sleep warm. The naturally soft texture also makes it a comfortable choice for sensitive skin.

Q. Does this all season quilt get softer over time?
A. Yes, one of the most appealing qualities of cotton gauze bedding is that it tends to become softer, more supple, and more comfortable with regular use and washing. Rather than losing its character over time, the fabric develops a gentle, lived-in feel as it is washed and used. With proper care, your gauze quilt can become even more comfortable over time, making it a bedding piece that grows softer and more inviting with age.

Q. What does “extra-wide cotton batting” mean, and why does it matter?
A. Extra-wide cotton batting means the cotton filling is wide enough to cover the quilt’s entire surface without seams or joins in the batting layer. This creates a more continuous and evenly distributed fill throughout the quilt. Batting made from multiple joined pieces can have a greater tendency to shift, bunch, or create uneven areas over time, particularly with repeated washing. Using extra-wide batting helps the quilt maintain consistent coverage, shape, and warmth across the entire surface, contributing to a more comfortable and durable quilt that holds up well with regular use.

Q. What bedroom styles does this handmade cotton quilt suit?
A. The soft ivory and blue trim combination gives this handmade cotton quilt a clean, understated look that complements a variety of bedroom styles. Its timeless design works beautifully with Scandinavian, minimalist, coastal, Hamptons-inspired, and classic neutral interiors. The versatile ivory base pairs easily with a wide range of bedding colors and textures, making it simple to incorporate into an existing bedroom or use as part of a fresh new look.
